Vaginoplasty in Barcelona: Tone´s Life-Changing Story

Vaginoplasty in Barcelona: Tone´s Rebirth Story

Choosing Vaginoplasty in Barcelona is one of the most personal and meaningful decisions many transgender women will make, just like Tone´s life-changing Story.

Behind every Vaginoplasty in Barcelona there is a unique human story. A story of self-discovery, courage and a story that often begins years before the operating room.

For people researching gender-affirming surgery in Barcelona, medical information is only one part of the decision.

Understanding the real experience of someone who has already gone through the process can be equally valuable.

Many Questions About Vaginoplasty Come Up Early

Questions naturally come up: What is the preparation really like when planning Vaginoplasty in Barcelona?

How do you know you are ready? What happens when you arrive in Barcelona? How does recovery work  in Spain and when I am back home?

What do I need to bring ? And what advice would someone who has already done it give?

Everything Starts with an Informed Decision

At Safe Rebirth, we believe that honest patient experiences can help people make informed decisions with more confidence and realistic expectations.

Today, we share Tone’s personal story of undergoing vaginoplasty in Barcelona  from her first steps of preparation, through surgery and recovery.

And last but not least, the advice she would give to anyone considering this life-changing procedure.

Every journey is different, but every person deserves access to clear information, compassionate guidance, and the opportunity to make decisions that feel right for them.

    Why Choose Vaginoplasty in Barcelona?

Barcelona has become an important destination for people traveling internationally for gender-affirming surgery in Spain.

Moreover, Spain has been ranked Nº 1 most Trans Friendly Country in the World by Rainbow Map this 2026.

For many patients, the appeal is not only the surgical expertise available, itt is also the complete rebirth vaginoplasty experience.

    Traveling Abroad for Vaginoplasty Elements

Travelling abroad for surgery involves 4 different elements:

    1. Choosing the right medical team
    2. Understanding the procedure
    3. Organising preparation and travel
    4. Planning recovery

    Personalized Support in Spain

A successful experience is not only about the day of surgery. It is about everything surrounding it. This is why personalised support is so important.

At Safe Rebirth, our role is to help patients understand their options, connect with experienced professionals, and feel supported throughout their journey.

We know that behind every enquiry there is a person making a deeply personal decision.

    Researching Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

I contacted Aida Masdeu while researching my options. Like many people considering Vaginoplasty in Barcelona, I did not make the decision quickly.

I wanted to understand the process. I obviously wanted answers and to feel confident.

When a decision involves your body, your identity, and your future, taking time to ask questions is not uncertainty. It is responsible preparation.

Tone describes herself as someone who likes to have control, especially when facing something as important as gender-affirming surgery.

    Information Online Can Feel Overwhelming

Many patients can relate to this feeling. The amount of information available online can sometimes feel overwhelming.

There are different surgical techniques to compare, practical decisions to make, and emotional aspects to consider.

Having someone experienced to guide you, acting as an advocate through the process can make everything feel much more manageable.

    Personal Guidance Before Surgery

´From the beginning of my preparation, I communicated very often with Aida´.

´I asked many questions, including some that, looking back, did not need immediate answer, but that is part of the process´.

When people are preparing for Vaginoplasty in Barcelona, they often want to organize every detail as early as possible. It comes from wanting reassurance.

Over time, Tone learned that she did not need to worry about everything at once.

Some things could be handled closer to surgery, others could wait. Good guidance is not only about providing information.

It is about helping people understand what matters, when it matters.

    Tone´s Vaginoplasty Story in Barcelona

    The Importance of Feeling Ready

A major surgery requires more than practical preparation. It requires emotional readiness too.

´The decision to undergo vaginoplasty in Barcelona came after many years of reflection. I felt a girl from a very young age. Like many transgender people´.

´I spent years trying to follow the path  people expected of me´ Eventually, I reached a point where continuing that way was no longer possible´.

Her journey was thoughtful and gradual. She took time to understand herself.

    She came out.

´I started hormone therapy and took the steps were right for me after careful consideration´.  Only after that process she decided surgery was the right choice.

Meeting the Surgeon Before Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

An important moment in Tone’s preparation was her consultation with the surgeon.

Before travelling for vaginoplasty in Barcelona, having the opportunity to speak directly with the surgeon helped her understand the procedure and discuss her expectations.

During the consultation, they talked about the surgical technique and the best approach for her individual situation.

The technique chosen was Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty (PIV). This is one of the established techniques used in gender-affirming surgery.

    The Right Technique

The most appropriate surgical approach depends on individual anatomy, goals, and medical considerations.

Having a clear understanding of PIV before surgery helped Tone feel confident and prepared.

A good consultation is not only about medical information. It is about building trust. If you want to know what technique is the right for you,  contact  us, no pressure, just support.

Preparing for Surgery: The Practical Details

As the surgery date approached, Tone received information about the practical preparation required before undergoing vaginoplasty in Barcelona.

    This included:

    • Blood Test, ECG and Chest X-Ray Requests
    • Anesthesia questionnaire
    • Vaginoplasty Booklet
    • Preparation instructions

These steps may seem like small details, but they are an important part of safe surgery preparation and you can do that all in Spain if you wish to.

Tone´s MTF Bottom Surgery Experience Recommendations

Tone highlights one practical point from her own experience:

1- Make sure that required blood tests include the appropriate coagulation information, such as PT and APTT.

2- Being organized before vaginoplasty can prevent unnecessary stress later.

3- For international patients especially, preparation provides peace of mind.

Knowing what needs to be done before traveling allows you to arrive in Barcelona feeling more focused on the experience ahead.

    Preparing Physically Before Vaginoplasty

Tone also believes that being physically prepared contributed positively to her recovery. ´For several years before surgery, I maintained regular exercise and focused on my  health.

I felt that arriving at surgery in good physical condition helped my healing process´.

Nobody needs to be an athlete Before Vaginoplasty in Barcelona, but looking after yourself, following medical advice, and preparing  can all contribute to a smoother recovery.

Arriving in Barcelona The Day Before Surgery

    Tone´s Rebirth in Barcelona

´After months of preparation, questions, consultations, and emotional reflection, the day finally arrived. I traveled to Barcelona ready for the next chapter of my life´.

For many international patients considering Vaginoplasty in Barcelona, arriving in another country before major surgery can bring a mixture of emotions.

Excitement, nervousness, anticipation and perhaps the very human thought: “After all this time, it is finally happening.” This is why preparation and support matter so much.

A surgical journey is not only about the operating room. It is about feeling guided and reassured from the moment you begin.

    The Importance of Feeling Welcomed

´When I arrived at the clinic the day before surgery for my vaginoplasty in Barcelona, I was welcomed by Aida.

She helped me complete the necessary paperwork, explained what would happen next, and guided me to my room´.

Those first moments can make a big difference. Instead of feeling alone in an unfamiliar environment, Tone immediately felt welcomed.

    Your Emotional Wellbeing is Important

One of the things Tone remembers most positively about her stay was the clinic environment. Many people imagine hospitals as cold, intimidating places.

The environment contributed positively to her emotional wellbeing.

When someone travels internationally for gender-affirming surgery in Barcelona, feeling comfortable and cared for matters. Medical expertise is essential, but so are kindness, communication, and human connection.

The Night Before Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

The evening before Vaginoplasty was focused on preparation. ´I received instructions to prepare my body for the procedure, including bowel preparation and fasting requirements´.

´One of the medications I received was Fosfosoda which is used to clean the intestines before surgery´. Like many patients, she expected this part of the process to be unpleasant.

Her experience was that it was manageable. Sometimes the things we imagine will be the most difficult are not as challenging as we expect.

She also followed the instructions carefully regarding food and drinks before surgery. ´That evening, I took the opportunity to enjoy a long shower, knowing that it would be her last shower for several days after the operation´.

A simple moment, but one that became memorable. Before a major life event, small moments often become surprisingly meaningful.

Surgery Day: The Moment She Had Been Preparing For

´The morning of surgery arrived. After months of planning, the moment was finally here´.

Tone had already completed the necessary preparation, so she was able to focus on the experience ahead.

Before entering surgery, she spoke with both the anesthesia team and the surgeon. These conversations helped create a feeling of calm and trust.

The nurse explained that she would probably feel slightly “drunk” before falling asleep and then something remarkable happened.

´I remember that moment clearly, and then I remember nothing else. The next thing I knew was that  the surgery was complete´.

Waking Up After Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

´Approximately five hours later, I woke up. The procedure was finished´.

´My first sensation was feeling slightly cold, but the medical team immediately looked after me and provided a warm blanket´.´What surprised me the most was how clear I felt mentally´.

Many people imagine waking up after surgery feeling confused, dizzy, or disconnected. Instead, Tone felt surprisingly present. She described it almost like being switched off before surgery and switched back on afterwards.

´A strange experience, But also an incredible one. The procedure I had spent so long preparing for, was now behind me´.

Communication With Family Right After Surgery

´After the surgery, the surgeon contacted my son to let him know that everything had gone according to plan´.

Gender-affirming surgery is a deeply personal experience, but it also affects the people who love and support you.

Knowing that the surgery had gone well allowed Tone’s loved ones to celebrate this important milestone with her.

The First Day After MTF Bottom Surgery

´After surgery, I returned to my room where I received the necessary post-operative care, including antibiotics, pain medication, and monitoring from the medical team´

´Then came one of the most emotional moments of my entire vaginoplasty in Barcelona experience:  Seeing the results´.

    Second Day: Vaginoplasty Results

On the second day after surgery, Tone was able to see the results for the first time.

Although there was still swelling, as is completely expected during early recovery, she immediately felt happiness.

She described feeling that she had finally reached the moment she had been waiting for. ´It was like the final piece of the puzzle had fallen into place´

For many transgender women, this moment is difficult to put into words. It is not only about physical appearance. It is about recognition.

It is about seeing yourself and feeling a connection between your body and your identity. This is why real experiences of vaginoplasty in Barcelona are so valuable.

Medical explanations can describe procedures. Personal stories describe what the journey feels like.

    Small Recovery Milestones After Vaginoplasty

The days following surgery were filled with small but meaningful milestones. After the period of fasting, Tone was able to drink and eat a light diet again.

´I remember my first apple juice as one of the best drinks I had ever tasted´.

Sometimes recovery is made up of these simple moments: The first drink, the first meal, the first walk and the first time you feel more like yourself.

Healing does not happen in one single moment. It happens step by step.

Life During the First Week at the Clinic

The remaining days at the clinic focused on recovery and gradually returning to normal activities.

Tone spent time: resting, walking,  moving more each day and allowing her body to heal. She also met other patients who had undergone surgery during the same week.

Sharing the experience with others created a sense of connection.

There is something unique about meeting people who understand the emotional and physical journey you are experiencing.

Sometimes you do not need to explain everything. Sometimes people simply understand.

The Value of Support During Vaginoplasty Recovery

During her stay, Tone’s best friend also came to Barcelona and stayed with her.

Having someone familiar nearby gave her additional emotional support during this important period.

For many patients traveling for MTF bottom surgery in Barcelona, having a trusted person with them can provide extra comfort.

However, not everyone has the possibility to travel with someone. That is why having professional guidance and reliable communication is so important.

A patient should feel supported, informed, and cared for throughout the entire process.

    Leaving the Clinic After Vaginoplasty

After one week at the clinic, Tone was ready to move into the next stage of recovery. The surgery was complete. Healing was progressing well, but the journey was not finished.

The following weeks would bring new experiences: continuing recovery, adapting to new routines, returning home and discovering life after surgery

The next chapter was about patience, healing, and allowing her body the time it needed.

    A New Chapter Begins

Leaving the clinic after vaginoplasty in Barcelona does not mean the journey is over. In many ways, it marks the beginning of a new phase.

The surgery itself is a major milestone, but healing continues for months afterwards.

Recovery requires patience, trust in your body, and following the guidance of your medical team. For Tone, the transition from the clinic to independent recovery was smooth and reassuring.

Continuing Recovery After Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

´One week after surgery, I left the clinic and moved into an apartment located only 200 meters away. The location was ideal´.

´Close enough to the clinic if I  needed support, but also allowing me to have more independence while continuing to recover´.

For international patients travelling for gender-affirming surgery in Barcelona, staying close to the medical team during the first weeks can provide valuable peace of mind.

    One Of The Biggest Concerns

One of the biggest concerns many patients have when researching vaginoplasty in Barcelona is:What happens after I return home?” This is an important question.

A successful surgical experience is not only about the operation. It is also about follow-up care, communication, and knowing that support remains available.

Before returning home, Tone had a final appointment with the surgeon. The results were positive.

    Returning Home

´Healing was progressing well. Important functions, including urination and dilation, were working as expected´.

This appointment gave Tone reassurance that she was ready for the next stage of her recovery. She was not simply leaving Spain after surgery. She was returning home with confidence.

    The Dilations Routine

´After almost four weeks away from home, I  finally returned to my everyday life´.

For many patients who travel internationally for vaginoplasty in Barcelona, returning home can be an emotional moment.

The intensive medical phase is finished. The routine of everyday life begins again. But, of course, life after surgery includes some new routines.

    The biggest one? Dilation.

    Dilations Routine: Vaginoplasty Kit

    Understanding Dilation After Vaginoplasty

Dilation is an essential part of recovery after many types of vaginoplasty. It helps maintain the depth and width created during surgery while the body continues healing.

For Tone, the first month involved dilating three times per day. Naturally, this became an important part of her daily schedule.

Many patients describe this stage as an adjustment period. Your routine temporarily changes.´My day became organised around healing: Rest, medication, appointments, dilation, recovery and  repeat´.

It may not always feel exciting, but it is an important investment in your long-term results. The positive news is that, with time, it becomes easier and more manageable.

    One Month After Vaginoplasty

Approximately one month after surgery, Tone had a video follow-up appointment with the surgeon.  ´The update was very positive. The recovery was progressing well´.

´After that consultation, I was able to reduce dilation from three times per day to twice daily. I also stopped using Betadine products according to my surgeon’s instructions´.

´Another important milestone had already happened: The stitches were gone. This was especially welcome because I was ready to progress to the next dilator size´.

Moving on to a Bigger Dilator

Would it hurt? Would it be uncomfortable? Initially, it felt tighter, but it was not painful.

After a couple of weeks, the larger dilator felt almost the same as the smaller one.

Recovery is full of these moments. Things that seem intimidating before experiencing them often become much easier with time.

    Vaginoplasty Dilators

    Rediscovering Her Body After Vaginoplasty

The second month after Vaginoplasty in Barcelona brought another important stage of healing. Tone started noticing more sensation returning, slowly, naturally and gradually.

She began exploring her body in new ways and described this period as a positive and intimate experience. This stage of recovery is deeply personal.

Every person heals differently. Some people notice changes in sensation earlier. For others, nerve recovery continues over a longer period.

The important thing is understanding that healing is a process. The body continues adapting and recovery continues evolving.

    Why Long-Term Follow-Up Matters

A common concern among people researching vaginoplasty in Barcelona is whether support continues after surgery.

For Tone, ongoing follow-up was an important part of feeling cared for. Regular consultations provided opportunities to discuss:

    • Healing progress
    • Questions or concerns
    • changes in sensation
    • Dilation routines.

Knowing that she could communicate with her medical team gave her reassurance throughout recovery.

At Safe Rebirth, we believe support should not stop once surgery is completed. The weeks and months afterwards are just as important.

Tone’s 4 Recommendations for Vaginoplasty In Barcelona

1- Make Sure You Are Ready

Looking back at her journey, Tone highlights several important lessons.

Make Sure You Are Ready:  Tone’s strongest advice is to take time to understand yourself.

For her, surgery was the result of many years of meditation.

She encourages anyone considering vaginoplasty in Barcelona to make sure the decision comes from personal certainty.

There is no universal timeline. Everyone’s journey is different. What matters is that the decision feels right for you.

    2. Prepare Yourself Physically

Tone believes maintaining good physical health helped her recovery. Regular exercise before surgery helped her feel stronger and more prepared.

Only 40 days after surgery, she completed her first run again.

That moment was incredibly meaningful. Not because she was trying to prove anything, but because it represented returning to her life.

    3. Follow Your Medical Team’s Instructions

Before and after surgery, patients receive important guidance regarding:medication, nutrition,  activity levels and dilation.

These recommendations exist to support healing and reduce risks. Following them is one of the most active ways patients can participate in their own recovery.

    4. Be Patient With Healing

One of the most important messages from Tone’s experience is patience.

Recovery does not happen overnight. There may be days where progress feels obvious. There may be days where progress feels slower. Both are normal.

Your body has gone through a significant procedure. Give yourself time.

    Supporting Your Journey

At Safe Rebirth, we understand that choosing vaginoplasty in Barcelona is about much more than organizing surgery. It is about making a life-changing decision with confidence.

Our role is to provide personalized guidance, practical support, and clear information throughout the journey.

This includes helping patients understand: surgical options, preparation requirements, travel planning, recovery expectations and communication with medical professionals.

We know that researching surgery can sometimes feel overwhelming. There is a lot of information online. Sometimes too much.

The challenge is not only finding information. It is finding trustworthy guidance.

    Why Real Patient Experiences Matter

Stories like Tone’s are valuable because they show the reality behind the procedure. They show the preparation, emotions, the small victories, challenges and moments of happiness.

Every patient’s experience will be different. No two bodies heal exactly the same way.

No two journeys are identical, but real experiences can help future patients feel more informed and less alone.

A New Chapter After Vaginoplasty in Barcelona

Tone’s journey is a powerful reminder that vaginoplasty in Barcelona is not simply about surgery. It is about a person’s relationship with themselves. It is about preparation.

It is about trust and it is about finally reaching a moment that feels aligned with who you are. Her advice is simple:

Take your time. Prepare yourself. Make sure the decision is right for you and when you are ready, surround yourself with people who respect and support your journey.
